SCHOLARSHIP vs SPONSORSHIP: Before COHH, K-6 School was available in our area. Unfortunately, many 7-12th graders left the Island for the mainland to find schooling. This put major financial stress on families & danger for the young students. Each K-6 child here must pay for books, uniforms (including hair supplies for girls) , supplies, & lunch to attend. The total amount for the year: $150 ($30 tuition, $60/month for lunch, $30 for uniform, & $30 for books) . We currently have 246 students in the two schools. Of those 246 students, many are not attending school because they cannot pay the enrollment. These students have either 1 or no parents (if they have parent(s) they have major hardship that prevents them from paying themselves.
